
Kanchogai Street
(Horse Street)
Towada-City has a long history of producing outstanding horses and there used to be army horse branch at the side of the Government Offices District. This district is counted among the 100 most beautiful streets in Japan. It's includes 1.1 km(0.7 mile) long street lined with cherry and pine trees. In the spring, there is a marvelous contrast between the pink of the blooming cherry blossoms and green pine needles. Nighttime illumination enables visitors to enjoy fantastic views of cheery flowers blooming against the night sky. Various events are held here during the event period.
Towada Art Center
Works exhibited are original works created by 21 artists with the theme "Symbiosis of Cities, Nature and Art." Artworks are displayed not only in exhibition rooms, but also in all parts of the museum, including the courtyard and the rooftop, and even on the pathway along Government Offices Street, in order to create an open art space.

Arts Towada Art brings about change in the city
The Arts Towada Project was started in 2005 in
order to bring new life to the city and make it more
attractive. Conceptualizing Government Offices Street
itself as a museum, the project intended to install
artworks, construct Towada Art Center and create art
programs in five years. Towada Art Center, which formed
the the core of the entire project, finally opened in 2008
and is frequented by artists and visitors from both inside
and outside Japan.

Towada City Nitobe Memorial Museum
The museum opened in 1965 in succession to a private library created with 8,000 books donated by Dr.Inazo Nitobe in 1925. Development-related materials are exhibited on the first floor along with traditional war outfits and documents about war tactics, and Dr.Nitobe's personal articles and his works of calligraphy on the second floor, to show visitors the history and achievements of the forefathers.

Horse culture Museum
Shotokukan and Komakko Land
Shotokukan is one of the rare horse culture museums found in Japan. It has large varieties of interesting materials concerming horses. At the hands-on experience corner, visitors can enjoy 3-D high-vision videos and horse riding simulations. Horse riding lessons are given in the Komakko Ranch for family visetors.

Handwork Village Risokyo
The "ri" in "Risokyo" represents fish. and the "so" refers to crops, vegetables and mountain plants. The tourist facility Risokyo was developed for participatory tourism in order to communicate the importance of food and benefits of organic farming.
Various participatory lessons are given in the jomon Village Yurakuen(a facility created in Risokyo) such as making earthenware, building a Jomon-style house and making a fire using primitive utensils.

Roadside Station Oirase,
Oirase Roman Park
This roadside station is located at the east entrance to the Oirase tourist course. Visitor are able to relax and enjoy the natural environment in its large area, visiting the public park Shinsui Park and the Conifer Garden, where 100 species of trees and plants are planted.
All kinds of fresh local Product Shop Shikisaikan. four types of local beer are served at the Oirase Brewery and varieties of special delicacies are available at the Steak Restaurant Miraikan and the Home,ade Food Shop Miraku kobo so that families can spend a whole day enjoying their tour of Oirase.

Fresh vegetables are delivered at noon to make up for the morning-picked vegetables that have been sold out.
Thanks to this system, shelves are always stocked with an ample supply of fresh vegetables. Sweet cakes made from rice flowers called tando no keiki(paddy cakes) made by a housewife of a farming family are very popular due to their firm texture.
Toyshops, a hands-on experience handicraft factory(Takumi Kobo), and horse race ticket offices are also found in the area to enable visitors to spend a pleasant holiday.
